Great Day Morning Show: Tamarind Chutney

In our third segment on the KMPH Fox 26 News Great Day Morning Show, we showed Kim and Kopi how to make a Tamarind Chutney (aka Imli Chutney), which is more sweet and tangy than Green Chutney. This chutney is a must have for varous Indian Street Food dishes including the one we made later in this episode, Bhel Puri.

The recipe for the Tamarind Chutney we made in this segment is as follows:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup tamarind

1 cup water

1/2 cup brown sugar*

1/2 teaspoon Bombay Blonde Chaat Masala

1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a food processor and blend for 2-3 minutes or until fully blended. Use as a condiment for various street food dishes, including; Bhel Puri, Pani Puri/Gol Gappe, Bombay Sandwich, Seek Kababs, Papdi Chaat, Samosa Chaat, etc.

Notes:

*for authentic Tamarind Chutney, sub equal parts jaggery
